Countdown to the Fall 2015 Launch of SpaceCom Begins

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Houston, TX – National Trade Productions, Inc. (NTP), the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Houston First are teaming up to launch a new conference and trade show for the commercial space industry. SpaceCom blasts off in Houston next Fall with three days of exhibits and sessions focused on the fledgling industry of commercial space travel and the shifting role of government space agencies.

The organizers said the worldwide space industry had grown 7% in 2012 with most of the lift coming from the commercial sector. “No other event facilitates a cross-industry convergence like SpaceCom,” said Robert Harar, chairman and CEO of NTP. “If you are involved in product innovations, industry research or market advancements in this emerging sector, then SpaceCom is the place to be.”

SpaceCom will debut November 17-19, 2015 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, the longtime epicenter of the U.S. Space Program. The event has the official support of NASA’s Johnson Space Center located in Houston. Space News, the leading media for the space industry for 25+ years, has aligned with the website SpaceCom as official media partner.

“The impact of space commerce is already being felt across the economy, as businesses in industry sectors such as medical, energy, communications, manufacturing and transportation see bottom-line benefits from new space technologies and exploration. This is creating unprecedented opportunities to develop new partnerships and business relationships across the aerospace ecosystem, and to expand the industry as a whole,” said Ellen Ochoa, NASA’s Johnson Space Center director and SpaceCom advisory board chairman. “I look forward to the ideas and innovations that will emerge from the discussions and presentations shared at the event.”

The show will likely draw drive-in attendees from NASA and various space-oriented companies based in the Houston area. Organizers are also marketing the event to sectors that are increasingly involved in space, including communications, manufacturing, and energy.
