SHELTON, Conn. — Clarion Energy, a subsidiary of Clarion Events, a world leader in B2B industry events, has announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind regional event designed to bring utility and renewable energy leaders together to overcome critical challenges facing the energy industry.
The GridTECH Connect Forum will provide an intimate, solutions-driven environment for energy leaders to network, learn, and collaborate outside of their traditional silos for the first time. The events will focus on the interconnection of distributed energy resources — solar, storage, electric vehicles, microgrids, demand response programs and more.
The inaugural GridTECH Connect Forum will be held at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. on Feb. 6, 2023, ahead of DISTRIBUTECH International, the leading transmission and distribution industry event. Speakers and attendees from utilities, developers, regulators, grid operators, and more will grapple with distributed energy resources (DER) interconnection challenges facing the West Coast.
“The issues surrounding the interconnection of DER are complex and deeply affect public welfare. Now more than ever, we need regional platforms like the GridTECH Connect Forum to collaborate and work seamlessly together to achieve our ambitious clean energy and climate goals for the California market,” said Desiree Hanson, Executive Vice President at Clarion Events.

The one- and two-day regional format of the GridTECH Connect Forums will allow attendees from utilities, developers, regulators, grid operators, and more to meet and engage with subject matter experts and senior-level decision makers all looking to advance DER interconnection.
“DER interconnection is often time-consuming and expensive. Improving this process is crucial to realizing local and national sustainability goals,” said Hanson. “Clarion Energy is pleased to provide a forum for distribution professionals, developers, and regulators to collectively address critical issues surrounding the interconnection of distributed energy resources for a better tomorrow.”
The GridTECH Connect Forum San Diego advisory board features senior leaders from Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric, Clean Power Alliance, Anza Electric Cooperative, Imperial Irrigation District, Nexamp, DSD Renewables, Standard Solar, EDP Renewables, and Pivot Energy.
Future GridTECH Connect Forum events including two additional regions in 2023 will be announced at a later date.
