DALLAS — The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) released a trove of information for exhibit managers in the form of a new downloadable book: 100 Cost-Savings Tips and Tricks for Exhibit Managers by Candy Adams, CTSM, CEM, CMP, CMM, VEMM.

This 22-page, comprehensive report is a must-read for exhibit managers, industry veterans and those new to the job. The exhaustive list of savings opportunities includes tips for effective strategic spending, as well as ways to cut tactical expenses relating to every aspect of exhibiting.

Adams, also known as “The Booth Mom,” has spent her career sharing cost-savings tips through interviews with industry magazines and various articles she has written.

“This is the first time I’ve compiled them into a Top 100 list by spending category,” she said. “In this new CEIR report, any exhibitor can find both strategic and tactical ideas on how to get more bang for their exhibit buck!”

Suggestions range from shrinking booth size to bringing your own supplies (Velcro, carpet tape, strapping, stretch wrap, packing tape, cleaning supplies, waste baskets, surge protectors, etc.) to closely auditing invoices for miscellaneous fees, such as credit card “handling fees” (which are illegal in some states), agency fees, flat fees with no back-up documentation, or quotes or orders rather than final invoices being used as billing back-up.

The downloadable book is free to CEIR subscribers and IAEE members, and $24 for non-members. “The strategies offered in this report benefit exhibitors, whether they are new to exhibitions or industry veterans,” said CEIR CEO Cathy Breden, CMP-F, CAE, CEM. “These savings add up, which not only increases their overall ROI but also opens opportunities to maximize their investments in other ways that can help them achieve their desired results.”
