Canada’s CCL Acquires pc/nametag and Meetings Direct

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Madison, WI – CCL Industries Inc., a world leader in specialty labels and packaging solutions, has acquired the sister companies pc/nametag Inc. and Meetings Direct LLC for $37 million.

Nick Topitzes, founder and majority shareholder of pc/nametag and Meetings Direct, will join Avery along with his executive management team.

The two Wisconsin firms will report to CCL’s Avery North America division based in Massachusetts. They will keep their current brand identities. “Their portfolio of customized and stock printed name badges, holders, lanyards and wristbands as well as their template software solutions make them a leader in this market,” said CCL President & CEO Geoffrey Martin.

CCL said the two companies chalked up sales of $36 million in 2014 with an adjusted EBITDA of $6.3 million.

CCL industries employs nearly 10,200 people and operates 102 production facilities in 29 countries on five continents.

Trade show observers said the sale was a tribute to Topitzes as much as a tribute to the power, importance and value of trade shows.
