Cabrera Retires; Michael Currier New Head of Sales for International Builders’ Show

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Washington, DC – Michael Currier was named to replace Ignacio Cabrera, who retired in August as vice president of exhibition sales for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Currier is now in charge of exhibit and sponsorship sales for the association’s International Builders’ Show (IBS). The show ranked No. 9 on the 2008 Trade Show Executive Gold 100 rankings of largest trade shows, with 1.037 million net square feet of exhibit space.

Currier, whose new title is vice president of exposition & advertising sales, has spent the past 16 years at the NAHB and was most recently the primary sales contact for major IBS exhibitors.

“Michael has a strong understanding of the residential construction supply chain and hundreds of direct relationships with housing’s most important suppliers,” said Phil Jobe, chairman of the 2010 IBS convention committee.

Cabrera led the IBS sales team for more than 35 years. His plans were not immediately revealed, although he spent most of August traveling outside the U.S.
