Allstream Gets Naming Rights for New Toronto Conference Center

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Toronto, Ontario – The new stand-alone conference center that will open next Summer at Exhibition Place in Toronto will be christened the Allstream Centre under a 10-year sponsorship agreement announced June 24.

MTS Allstream Inc., a Canadian communications services company, signed a 10-year agreement with Exhibition Place that includes signage plus a technology showplace area inside the building. The building will be formally named Allstream Centre – A Conference & Convention Centre at Exhibition Place.

“Our goal with this relationship is to inspire visitors to consider new communications technologies that will transform how we conduct conferences – and business in general – in the years to come,” said John MacDonald, president of the company’s Enterprise Solutions division.

The deal will also make Allstream-branded communications capabilities available to conference center attendees. Allstream Enterprise Solutions specializes in voice and data services for large and medium-sized businesses.

Further details of the agreement and the technology center will be unveiled in 2009.

The Allstream Centre project began this Spring as a $46.9 million renovation of the 160,000 square-foot Automotive Building, an art-deco structure on the Exhibition Place campus adjacent to Direct Energy Centre.

When completed in April 2009, the LEED Silver-Certified building will offer 20 meeting rooms totaling just over 75,000 square feet. There will also be a 44,000 square foot ballroom and pre-function space with a view of Lake Ontario. The building, originally built in 1929, will be connected to the Direct Energy Centre exhibit halls by an underground walkway.
