Alan Peterson Departs New Hope; Senior Execs Take up Duties

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Boulder, CO – Alan Peterson’s duties as vice president of trade shows for New Hope Natural Media were taken over by senior management following his exit from the company in October.

Fred Linder, senior vice president of the Lifestyle Group at Penton and Group Show Director Sandy Voss assumed Peterson’s responsibilities. “Our bench strength on the trade show side is pretty deep, so I don’t think we will miss a beat,” Linder said. “We’re in pretty good shape.”

Peterson left the company for personal reasons that were not specified. He could not be immediately reached for comment.

Peterson had been top executive of the New Hope portfolio that included the Natural Products Expo brand in the organic and healthy products sectors. Natural Products Expo West/Supply Expo was No. 55 on the Trade Show Executive Gold 100 this year after its 2009 show at the Anaheim Convention Center reached 329,850 net square feet (nsf). Its sister show, Natural Products Expo East/Organic Products Expo-BioFach America, took place in Boston and was No. 99 on the Gold 100 at 152,600 nsf.

The Lifestyle Group publishes two magazines and organizes a dozen trade shows and conferences, including Club Industry and Natural Marketplace along with the two Natural Products shows.

Linder told Trade Show Executive there were no other changes in the executive ranks after Peterson left. “After six months we’ll review it and see if anything needs to be changed,” he said.

Adam Anderson and Erica Stone remain as show managers of the Natural Products Expo West and East, respectively. Both have more than 10 years experience, and Linder has also been involved in show management for Penton for more than a decade.
