Oceanside, CA – Chris DeMoulin, president of Advanstar’s MAGIC Marketplace, will be the subject of Trade Show Executive’s Power Lunch interview in the April issue.
DeMoulin joined the exhibition industry just three years ago, but quickly earned a well-deserved reputation as a knowledgeable and productive executive with the types of insights that make the Power Lunch interviews conducted by Bob Dallmayer a “must read.” The main course in March will delve into the makings of MAGIC’s continuing success and the path the show will take in the future.
DeMoulin, who also holds the title of executive vice president of Advanstar’s Fashion Group, has continued to build the momentum of the company’s high-profile brand since being brought to Advanstar by CEO Joe Loggia in 2008.
Despite the economic downturn and its impact on consumer spending, MAGIC’s two annual shows were in the top 20 of the most recent TSE Gold 100 rankings. And this venerable, established brand, continues to draw enough new exhibitors and attendees to make the TSE Fastest 50 roster of rapidly growing events.
MAGIC Marketplace February grew 15.3% in 2010 to 738,300 net square feet (nsf). MAGIC Marketplace August bulked up 22.1% from 2009 to 821,292 nsf.
DeMoulin and his team have high hopes for a new segment of MAGIC. The FN Platform shoe show debuted at MAGIC a year ago at 65,800 nsf and reached 89,400 nsf by its second edition in August. The upcoming show in February is expected to grow an additional 35%.
