New York, NY – Advanstar Communications announced several management changes on July 5. Laura McConnell was promoted to the newly created job of executive vice president of fashion and will take responsibility for the company’s entire fashion portfolio while former Reed Exhibitions executives Chris McCabe and Tony Calanca joined Advanstar in senior management roles.
McConnell was previously vice president and general manager of Advanstar’s MAGIC fashion trade show. the firm’s largest revenue producer. McCabe will step into her shoes. He is moving to Southern California, and starts the week of July 10. McCabe managed the PGA Merchandise Show, BookExpo America and a number of consumer shows while at Reed.
Calanca, who spent 23 years at Reed and headed Infinity Expo Group, joined Advanstar as executive vice president of exhibitions and will be in charge of overseeing and developing all of Advanstar’s events. He will start in late July.
