SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Trade Show Executive (TSE) awarded the winners of the coveted Gold 100 Grand Awards Oscars-style during the TSE Gold 100 Awards & Summit. The winners represent the gold standard of trade show management excellence and exemplified the industry’s innovative spirit.

Winners took to the main stage during the Gold 100 gala to receive their crystal trophies and recognition from industry peers, as they were celebrated for their success in 2022.

JCK, produced by RX, took home The Greatest Trade Show of 2022, while Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, was recognized with the first-ever TSE Courageous Leadership Award. Shapiro garnered the award for his strong leadership and determination while organizing CES 2022 in the face of a COVID-19 variant surge and amid pressure to cancel the annual show. CES 2022 went on with great success, providing exposure for thousands of businesses and exhibitors and setting the stage for the industry’s return to live events.

Charlie McCurdy, Non-Executive Chairman, Informa Markets and Strategic Advisor, Informa PLC, Informa Markets, earned the Gold Standard in Excellence Award, an award that recognizes his achievements over the course of his career in the industry. McCurdy, who’s been featured on TSE Magazine’s cover twice, led Informa to success by overseeing massive growth that included the acquisition of UBM and most recently Tarsus. World of Concrete, which he oversaw, was the first large-scale show to return to an in-person format following COVID-19, really setting the stage for the industry’s rebound and safe return to live events while generating more than $100 million in economic impact for Las Vegas. McCurdy also led the way at Informa as it became more data-driven in its decision making and measuring of success.
