If ever there was a Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) to attend, this is the one. On April 7, 2022, the events and meetings industry will meet for a long-awaited industry reset. Thought leaders will share their wisdom and insights about the impact of the trade show and meetings industry on the global economy and the long road ahead.

GMID, an annual event, was originally created to bring together individuals and industry-specific thought leaders from throughout this global industry to showcase the true significance of all facets of a vast and ever-evolving profession that includes trade shows and exhibitions, business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, and the many related ancillary businesses from Audio-visual to Zoom meetings.

“GMID is an opportunity for the industry to unite and demonstrate the significant economic and social impact of the work we do. It is particularly important this year after a long challenging pause in gathering, to show our resilience, our creativity and to support one another as we rebuild and relaunch our events,” Claire Smith, CMP, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, said, adding that this year’s GMID event is a collaboration of five industry associations, coming together at the VCC to learn, share and celebrate.

Depending on your location, there are plenty of in-person, live events available, too. While live events for 2022 Global Meetings Industry Day are slated to take place literally around the world, you don’t need to attend in person to get involved and participate in this important day of support and advocacy for the meeting and event industry.

This year, MPI is offering a virtual experience for the many who are either still dipping a toe into face-to-face events. Their free, live 2022 Global Meetings Industry Day digital broadcast will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (06:00 to 18:00) CST, offering education and activities for a global audience as the meeting industry comes together to, honor, commemorate and advocate for an industry with a direct impact on the everyday lives of individuals, local businesses and communities each and every year.

And no excuses; this exclusive broadcast is free, but MPI is asking attendees to consider donating US$10 to help support the ongoing good works of the MPI Foundation. Get your ticket here.

PCMA is offering a number of live GMID educational events at their chapters and regions, from the west coast of Vancouver, BC, to the eastern shores of Boston, and many points in between and throughout the world.
