Paris — June 6 is the big day for the trade show industry to band together for the third annual Global Exhibitions Day (GED), it was announced by UFI — the Global Association for the Exhibitions Industry.

Global Exhibitions Day is when show organizers, associations and industry partners spread the word to the public and governments around the world about the immense impact that trade shows have on business and the overall economy.

This year’s event currently has the support of 41 industry associations in 67 nations, including the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) in the U.S. The associations will organize rallies and other events to educate the public and decision-makers about benefits of trade shows. This year will also include a push to encourage students and young people to consider careers in the events industry.

As for IAEE, it will hold its annual lobbying event in Washington, D.C., on June 5-6. Last year, more than 100 representatives of the exhibitions industry trekked to Capitol Hill to brief members of Congress and their staffs on issues affecting U.S. trade shows, and a similar crowd is expected this year.
