  • The Meetings Mean Business Coalition (MMBC) relaunched its Worth Meeting About campaign to highlight the value of face-to-face meetings.
  • The campaign will crowdsource stories & testimonials on social media to develop a set of case studies and to create an online conversation.
  • Cobo Center will host the North American International Auto Show through 2025, after the show signed a new 8-year deal with Cobo in July.
  • SMG, which manages Cobo, signed its first agreement with the auto show in 2012. The NAIAS annually draws more than 800,000 attendees.
  • Effective Aug 1, 2017, the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC) will transition to ESCA's Worker Identification System (WIS) Badge.
  • The change takes full effect in Jan 1, 2018. Show workers will be required to carry a WIS badge or the credential issued by the SDCC.

Exhibitions Veteran Eric Lisman Joins Emerald as EVP

San Juan Capistrano, Calif. – Eric Lisman has been named Executive Vice President, Corporate Development at Emerald Expositions, LLC and will take the lead in Emerald’s mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate business development activities.

Lisman, who will report to CFO Phil Evans, joins Emerald at a busy time. The company has been active in the M&A market “We closed six acquisitions in 2016 and one more so far in 2017,” said Evans. “Eric worked with us as a consultant on a number of these transactions, and we have been extremely impressed with his strategic insights, commercial acumen and collaborative approach.”

The Boston-based Lisman has compiled a long resume in the trade show industry, much of which revolves around the fashion and apparel sector.  He spent 14 years as Executive Vice President – Corporate Development and General Counsel at Advanstar Communications. He also was Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Reed Elsevier for about 10 years and most-recently ran his own strategic and transaction consulting firm serving the trade show, conference and media-related industries.
